Toyota Corolla Cross 2024: a new generation of hybrid crossover

The Toyota car concern presented the second (after the CH-R in 2016) crossover built on the GA-C platform – the 5-seater Corolla Cross. And although the size of the wheelbase of the predecessor and successor is identical (2.6 m), in all other aspects the models are radically different. What does the Toyota Corolla Cross look like inside?

The interior of the new product looks both restrained and multifunctional. Its gray color and utilitarian materials (in particular, wear-resistant fabric) used for its composition respond to the first impression. On the other hand, the interior of the Corolla Cross is literally packed with technical innovations.

In front of the driver is a 7-inch digital display, and it is suspiciously similar in size and design to the instrument used in more luxurious cars such as the Lexus NX.

What is under the hood of the Toyota Corolla Cross?

Gasoline versions of the Corolla Cross are equipped with a 2-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that develops 126 kW at 6,600 rpm and 202 Nm between 4,400 and 4,900 rpm. This is the same "Dynamic Force" engine as the Corolla Hatch and Sedan.

Drive to the front wheels is transmitted through a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which has 10 virtual "speeds" in manual mode, as well as a starting gear.

Combined fuel consumption is 6 l/100 km, and CO2 emissions are 136 g/km. Unlike some other cars in the Toyota lineup, the gasoline engine is not equipped with stop/start idling technology.

The Corolla Cross runs on regular unleaded 91 RON fuel, and the fuel tank capacity depends on the transmission. The 2WD petrol versions have a 47-litre fuel tank, while the 2WD Hybrid and AWD Hybrid have a 36-litre and 43-litre respectively.

Toyota claims acceleration from 0 to 100 is 9-9.2 seconds for gasoline versions. The maximum speed is 198 km/h. All Corolla Cross versions are capable of towing up to 750 kg (with brakes).
